Current Situation

As of 2025, towns and villages in the Amhara region remain deeply unstable. Many areas are scarred by repeated cycles of war , leaving communities unable to rebuild. Humanitarian needs are severe: food insecurity has worsened as farmland was destroyed or abandoned, medical services are collapsing under (link shortages of staff and supplies, and hundreds of thousands remain displaced, living in temporary camps or with host families under strained conditions. Communication blackouts and restrictions on independent access continue to obscure the true scale of the crisis, but reports consistently point to thousands killed and many more uprooted since the fighting spread into the region.

Local and international voices have called for transparent investigations into atrocities, while Fano leaders have welcomed and demanded independent investigations, the Government of has steadfastly blocked any calls for independent investigation into countless authorities.
